Yeah, I've been home for so many snow days, the only way I remember what day it is, is by looking at the letter on top of my daily pill box.

I hope that this honestly becomes a reoccurring pattern for at least the foreseeable future Winters!

One note to add to this "record", is that at IAD right now, we've already received more snow than Buffalo, NY, Burlington, VT, Anchorage, AK, or Fairbanks, AK. Also, our snowfall so far is already above the seasonal averages for Fairbanks, AK, and Anchorage, AK.

IAD has over 70" of recorded accumulation to date this season, and where I am at nearby, we have actually recorded more than them. We are closer to 80" for this season so far at my location. (That's between 5.10' and 6.8' of total accumulation so far!).

Also, IAD broke records for single storm snowfall amounts, Winter season snowfall amounts, and snowfall accumulation rates.

The funny part, is that normally we reference our Winter days around snowstorms by saying: "The last time it snowed", or "That major snowstorm". We've had so many such days this season though, that we're at a complete loss for likewise references anymore lol.

The interesting thing is, I was actually BORN during a blizzard, as opposed to being conceived during one lol. I think it's why I love snow so much, because it represented my first view of the outdoors (Even though I obviously cannot actively remember it, my ride home consisted of going by the WH, the Capitol, and so forth, all while the entire City was covered in snow and ice).

Winter is far from over folks. I think more snow is coming sun night. We are in the midst of a nasty el nina. Even the west coast is having bad weather. I hate this but I don't think we are done w snow.

Exactly, this winter is showing el nina affects. We could definitely be in for more snow before all is said and done. That's the scary part.

The poster who posted IAD snowfall totals - my sister lives in Burlington, VT and we were just talking yesterday - they have had a very cold, but relatively dry winter so far without a lot of snow. The only way the ski areas are staying in business up there is to manufacture snow, believe it or not. It's been very cold there (often daily high is 5 degrees) but they have only maybe gotten 30" of snow so far this winter. They did have one monster snowstorm, that dumped 23", but then just some small ones so total is just 30" which is very low for them. It just has been dryer than normal up there, even though it has been plenty cold! This is the first time we've had more snow then they have - as she has been living there since 1994, and I've been in Northern VA since before then.

There might be some truth to that. I was born in August, and I hate the cold! Give me summer every day of the year, and I will be happy.

FYI: We are in an El Nino pattern. Not to be confused with his sister La Nina. You can't mix & match weather systems...

My oldest son was conceived during the Big Presidents Day snow in 1979 and born in December! We had to do something to keep warm.
