This is a challenging time of year as one's not quite sure what the weather will be. I was going to suggest Annapolis but still a bit chilly for the waterfront. Your safest bet would be DC There's tons to do there regardless of the weather.

Maybe make 15 a theme of the weekend? There's Route 15 that runs from Gettysburg (hmm...giant battle, maybe not a good theme) down through Leesburg, Middleburg in Virginia. Only if you find road-tripping fun, though.

I just posted a bunch of things for that weekend at What's Going On Around Nova this Week

If it was me, I'd choose the Big Apple Circus or the Cajun Gumbo event at Breaux. Or maybe the parade in Alexandria.

I just looked at some hotels recently for my B-day and Kimpton is having a ton of specials. They have them in DC, Alexandria, and Baltimore. Super-swanky and not terribly expensive.

We're thinking of doing a similar thing after Cherry Blossom festival is over. How do I find out about the deals at Kimpton? I looked at the website but didn't see the specials. The rooms at their various hotels are about $325-390, am I missing something?

Also, does anyone have suggestions on good places to find deals? Is the Washington Post travel section the best place or does anyone have other recommendations?

Caladium, I'm a big fan of travelzoo. They'll send you emails sporadically (once or twice a week) with top deals around DC. Cheap airfare out of local airports, cruises leaving from Baltimore, or hotels in the area.

You have to have good willpower though. If my husband didn't keep me grounded in reality, I would have booked 3 or 4 European vacations this year because of the awesome deals they sent.
