I also think that the developer should pony up the $$ if they want it moved. And, what kind of development is it? Once we start letting outside developers call the shots then we are doomed. If the devlopers are so concerned about metro, then why don't they build their site next to a metro station (rather than move the tracks closer to the development.) There has been many recent examples of builders/developers tearing up huge acres of land, and then pulling the plug on the entire project. We need to say no to this kind of bullying.

This is extremely idiotic, especially given the current economic meltdown, and the forthcoming bloodbath in commercial real estate, which is just getting started.

How do we know this developer won't go belly-up?

Moving this station 300 feet shouldn't make that much of a difference; if that's what the developer wants, let him pay for everything!!!

Whatever they decide to do, they basically only have one shot to do it right, whatever that is. I'd think in the long run, 30 days 'wasted' figuring out the best way to build something that is going to be used heavily for daily commuting for the next however-many decades is probably not the biggest deal in the world.

As a final note--the matter was decided. They voted against moving the station.

Hopefully that means we're now one step closer to finishing the silver line. Maybe.
