Can anyone tell me about the commute from Centreville to the Spingfield/Franconia metro stop area? Is there a public transportation option for the commute?

I don't know about the exact commute to the Springfield Metro, but my husband commuted from Centreville to Springfield (the area near Alexandria and Marlo Furniture) for a while, and it was a 40-minute drive each way. He took Braddock to 7100 to Backlick. 7100 goes right into Springfield and near the metro, so I imagine the drive there wouldn't be much different.

He said that the drive wasn't particularly wonderful, but it wasn't awful, either. He moved pretty much the whole way.

He never looked into public transportation.

Not sure why you'd want to go from Centreville to that metro station? Wouldn't Centreville to the Vienna metro station make more sense?

My husband's office will be near that station. We saw some homes in Centreville that we like and friends have told us good things about the area, so we are interested in the commute. Thanks.

I live over in Centreville. I would definitely recommend that he takes the Fairfax County Parkway down to Springfield as stuntmonkey said. 66 to 495 would be a disaster (I take 66 east every morning and its bad).

What area of Centreville are you moving to? I live in one of the townhouses in London Towne off of 29 and Stone Rd. Let me know if you want any recommendations on things to do/eat/shop in the area.
