I hate to hurt my own "West Falls Church Loser Metro Station" thread, but new Silver Line is so fascinationg. Just look at one station that will be built by 2013, Wiehle Avenue. Dulles Metrorail - Map and Stations

Just recently approved, the station area will have a public plaza, 6,000 parking spaces, and a complex of eight office buildings. It will also have residential units. Wiehle Metro Avenue <br>development gets green light

There ought to be bicycle access as it's close to the W&OD bike path. It's worth pointing out that many of the new stations will be located in the median (above) the Dulles Toll Road. Some or all will have access on both the north and south sides of the road. Most or all of the plans seem to also be accompanied by development around the stations.

Now that they are starting to solidify plans for the stations, you have to wonder where/when they'll start deciding which bus routes will go in.

Wow, people moving into the area don't seem to be very interested in the new line. Good enough.

Is the construction in the median of I-66 just to the East of the beltway and the pylons veering off to the right part of this project? Looks like it would be the route to take trains from the orange line over to the Dulles toll road.

That's just one small parcel at that corner and it doesn't even go all the way from the Toll Road to Sunset Hills. Imagine how many parking spaces and the associated congestion in the area if the rest of the stretch along Sunset Hills were to be developed in this way, not to mention the Sunrise Valley side of the station.
