Today i received a reckless in fairfax/ceterville area... 84 in a 45. This is my first offense of any kind so i have a clean record. I was told to get my speedometer checked, and take a driving class BEFORE my court date. I was wondering if there is anything else i should do before my court date to try and get my reckless ticket, dropped or reduced. Also what other factors can affect it, and any idea of my chances. Thanks in advance!

Not 15mph over.

Not 20mph over

Not 25mph over

Not 30mph over

Not 35mph over

You were going almost 40mph over the speed limit.

40 OVER!!!! The speed limit was 45!!! 40 over!!! THAT'S BASICALLY DOUBLE THE POSTED SPEED!!!

WHY? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

We see these posts from time to time. Suggest you search the VA forums on the topic "reckless driving" -- and get you a good attorney. Oh, and s-l-o-w down...

May I add: turn in that drivers license, as you don't appear to be responsible enough to accept the responsibility of driving a 2,000 lb. vehicle safely.

Uhm, you *had* a clean record. Your insurance company is going to love you... unless they drop you altogether.

84 is too fast on most interstates! Accept the outcome as a deserved learning experience, and be thankful you didn't injure or kill anyone. You "don't know what [you] were thinking?" That's the problem -- you weren't thinking! I know you didn't come to the forum to hear criticism of your action, but I doubt you will get much sympathy here or from a judge.

I think you need to talk with an attorney. It's not the end of the world. You had a clean driving record and this is your first offense. Just learn from the mistake. You didn't kill yourself or anyone else...thank God.

...but seriously, call an attorney.

Who told you that? The cop?

And how did he determine your speed -- radar or his speedometer?
