My husband and I are searching for a SFH in Northern Virginia close to commuter routes. We found a few homes in the Kings Park area of Springfield and we are wondering if anyone knows that area well. Is it safe? I know some areas of Springfield are to be avoided but the area seems ok. Thanks

That's inside the beltway right? I really haven't been over impressed with the area as a whole, but not familiar with that specific neighborhood. A co worker lives near there and made the mistake of buying on a street without a light and has to cross a major stree making a left, can take 10 minutes or more. She ends up making a right and driving a while before she can do a uturn. But when you say close to commuter routes are you talking about driving or metroing somewhere? That isn't close to any metro stop, and as close as it looks to the beltway, it really could take some time to get to the on ramps, and you have to take some fairly busy roads, Braddock and Edsall to get to either 495 or 395. If you are heading south or West, it might not be so bad.

Where are you trying to get to.

Kings Park is actually pretty nice. The newly-elected Braddock District supervisor served as the Kings Park Civic Association's President. (I met him when I was an officer on my own civic association.) The schools are good, too. And there is a great Caribou Coffee over the in the shopping plaza off Braddock Rd.

It's outside the Beltway -- west on Braddock Rd, just west of the Wakefield Park/Audrey Moore RECenter area. It's south of Canterbury Woods, etc.

Kings Park is a great neighborhood. We have many friends who live there, including two who liked the community so much that they have bought their parents house and are now the second generation in the same home. Low crime, good schools and convienent shopping! A very family friendly area.

My bad...I thought that zip was inside the beltway. Must be bigger than I thought.

Nice area. There is a Metro (subway) stop just down the parkway next to Springfield Mall that is now under extreme renovation.

The zip code 22151 covers North Springfield south of Braddock Road between Rolling Road and I-395. It extends south to the railroad tracks. Therefore, 22151 covers areas outside and inside the beltway. The houses and neighborhoods look nice and quiet. There are some shopping centers along Braddock Road near I-495.

Sorry I couldn't help out more. I don't know too much about Springfield.

For commuting purposes, Kings Park is a quick drive to 495, the Springfield bypass and Fairfax County Pkwy. The neighborhood is within walking distance of the VRE and is within a fairly short commute to the Springfield Metro. The neighborhood is also on the bus route to the Pentagon.

Kings Park is located at the intersection of Braddock Road and Burke Lake Road -which is a nice, outside the beltway location.

Kings Park is pretty good, especially if you work not far from there, I've heard a lot of good things about it.
