For anyone who has been following the saga of the escaped cat....

Good news: Nairobi the serval is safe and sound after spending a few days exploring Loudoun County. Apparently she feasted on rodents, so thanks to her our pest population may even have been lowered just a bit.

If you want a little background to the story:

On April 1st, a serval escaped from the Leesburg Animal Park. (No, they say it wasn't an April Fools Day prank. ) A serval is a wild animal, an African cat resembling a small cheetah. See the link below for it's photo.

They finally caught her after she strayed onto Rt. 15. She was hit by a car but wasn't seriously hurt (just shock and some minor damage to her tail).

Since the story has a happy ending (phew!) we can now laugh at the humor in it. Can you imagine the insurance report that driver is going to file?

I have to admit I found it amusing that they used the reverse 9-1-1 system to alert residents in the Leesburg area that the serval had escaped, and then used it again to inform us she had be caught. It's not often there's a loose serval cat in the neighborhood. It made me smile to listen to the messages on my answering machine. I was glad to read she was going to be okay.

Maybe the cat escaped because it wanted to go to Augusta to see Tiger.
