I would very much appreciate your help in finding a primary care giver and oncologist in the Dumfries/Woodbridge/Dale City area. I will be moving in June. your recommendations will be greatly helpful.

You will find that decent medical doctors are in short supply in Dumfries/Woodbridge/Dale City. I have to see most of my doctors "up north".

For a primary care doctor, Dr. Peter Mendel is pretty good. Very caring, very thorough. The price to pay for that is sometimes a 1-2 hour wait in the waiting room. It gets annoying but if you don't go much....

I've heard good things about Dr. Lisa Malloy at Dominion Family Practice in Mapledale Plaza (end of Dale Blvd). I have not been to this practice myself.

As for oncology, I would probably look for a doctor affiliated with Fairfax Hospital or one of the DC hospitals rather than Potomac. I'm a cancer survivor myself and find that the more cutting edge physicians are associated with the larger and better rated hospitals.

Washingtonian Magazine just came out (March issue I believe) with their "TOP DOCTORS" issue which is an invaluable resource for finding physicians. With a few exceptions, I find their recommended doctors to be right on target.

For oncologist, definitely find a doctor up closer to DC. I was very happy with mine at Fairfax Northern Virginia Hemotology Oncology.

I've heard Dr. Nygwen (sic) in Annandale is top flight. She was number 1 in her class at Johns Hopkins.
She is an Oncologist. PM me if you can't find her number/address and I will get it for you.

I have a copy of the "Washingtonian Magazine" Top Docs issue. Let me know if you'd like a few more Dr. refs - I'll be happy to share. Good luck with your move!
