Hi, moving from Atlanta to NOVA with two todlers, will work in DC (red line) any suggestions for neighborhoods and schools districts? As usual, extremely low crime and short commute is key. Thanks.

If you're working on the red line, do you absolutely have to live in NOVA? The options for where I would recommend expand considerably if you add MD into the mix. But if you insist on the NOVA thing, then I definitely would look at something inside the Beltway, due to Metro access and commute times. Arlington is pretty good, but really pricey, and your living space with two toddlers may feel rather confined if you have to settle on an apartment to stay there. I would look at Falls Church, then maybe Alexandria. If you want to go a little further out, but still be within proximity of the Metro, then maybe go outside the Beltway a bit and look at Vienna/Oakton, and possibly Fairfax. All of the places that I listed have decent to very good schools, and should fit most of your criteria. If you want to look at Maryland as well, let me know.

Of course, this all depends on your price range.

Thx. I am open to MD, just afraid of the tax. Initially I will rent (1 yr) then my range will be around 600k.
