Have excessively high moisture readings (25%+) on concrete slab, which is presenting problems.....wanting to lay hardwoods. Anybody else have/had this problem....any solutions? Really want to find underlying reason for so much moisture. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

GCPA, try posting on the "House" Forum. Probably folks over there who have had the same problem.

Generally speaking, it is not recommended to put real hardwood flooring on slab.

If you insist, what you can do is to put down a moisture barrier between the slab and the flooring....such as plastic sheeting.

With that, you will still need to put down a layer of thick plywood in order to staple down the hardwood planks.

WRT moisture readings on the slab, check grading around the house.
