Hi!
I'm going to be interning in DC from mid-May to August. I will be staying with family in Herndon, VA and will need to go into DC every morning. With traffic in the morning, about how long would it take to get to the Vienna metro station from Herndon (right near Rachel Carson Middle School)? I would be trying to get there by about 7:20 each morning. Or are there better options for commuting into DC?

Thanks!

well, if your'e gonna park at the Vienna metro parking garage, try to get there before 7:30 am, by then all parking spots are taken, even the ones on the roof

Take a Fairfax Connector bus from the Herndon Monroe Park & Ride.

I agree. It's a much easier drive to the park and ride, and the bus goes to West Falls Church. Vienna can be a problem for parking, not to mention the time it would take to drive there. You can get to the park and ride in a few minutes.

OP,

Just another vote for going to West Falls Church. Vienna metro is a pain to get to from Herndon especially with morning rush hour.

You could take the 652 bus to the Vienna Metro. From McLearen Road, you're one street over from Franklin Farm.

Route 652: Chantilly – Franklin Farm – Vienna Line*- Fairfax County, Virginia

If your work is near the Yellow Line or near the Mall, you may be better off taking the express bus from Herndon Monroe Street park-and-ride to the Pentagon and taking the subway across the river.

Any feedback on how reliable the times are on the 652 schedule? I'd be reverse commuting (WB AM/EB PM) from Vienna Metro to Avion Pkwy.
