There's no point on clicking this thread if you're not gonna answer. But anyways, does Gary, IN have tall buildings like other major cities in the country. I'm not talking 3 or 4 story buildings either.

No. Yeah, there are certainly large buildings that are higher than four stories, but nothing I would characterize as a skyscraper. It's not really a major city either. It's <100,000 people.

Type "Gary Indiana Downtown" into google images to get an idea of the cityscape, or lack thereof.

The tallest building in Gary would probably be the old Sheraton Hotel at 15 or so floors; unfortunately its been abandoned since the 80s.

There are a number of buildings of 8 floors of less.

The tallest parts of the steel mills are the closest thing to a skyscraper in Gary. The tallest one is about 40 stories.

They are quite a sight from the toll road.

Check this out. Lost Indiana: Gary Sheraton (http://www.lostindiana.net/Lost_Indiana/Lost_Indiana__Gary_Sheraton.html - broken link)

I live in Valparaiso, but work in Gary, and drive past the Sheraton twice a day. It's pitiful, just like most of the other buildings in Gary.

The sad thing is, that it's been closed far longer then it was ever open.
