People from NWI who have moved away. Where did you move to, why, and do you like it more?? I live in East Chicago and we are going to move as soon as we are able. I want to hear about your experiences.

moved to the SW U.S. some 15 years ago because I liked this majestic part of the US.
I enjoy outdoor sports and there's plenty places for that. Mountains, sunshine, adventure and deserts are my kind of thing.

Serious problems one can have will follow them where ever they go.
If you can take care of the financial aspect, then one should move if they are so inclined to do so IMO.

I first moved away for college to Bloomington. After grad school, I was back for a year, but then moved to the Western Suburbs as it was closer to my job and my husband's job. We moved back to Bloomington about 11 years ago. It's different than NWI, but there is some diversity here and the schools were great for our kids. It is a beautiful part of the state in a way that is very different than NWI. There are still things I miss about NWI and Chicago--food, pizza, the Lake, Chicago, a good Region accent, and the "attitude" at times. At times I even miss the great sunsets caused by the air pollution--hahaha. It's slower here, and I've become used to that. We like this place, but we may move again some day--just have to see where the kids end up.
