I had family that lived in Morningside. Loved that neighborhood.

They need a Historical group in the city to prevent tear-downs.

So did I, still have friends living there and my father lived there for years and years but putting up a vinyl is just wrong.

btw art, I still have immediate family living a nice middle class life in safe quiet non-run down neighborhoods in Gary.

Guy, you're killin' me.

There's plenty of rich people who live in Miller up against Lake Michigan.

Hell, drive to the beach and look at that ENTIRE neighborhood surrounding Lake Michigan.

Nothing but BMW's, Mercedes, aging hippies, or artsy types.

Harry Porterfield from ABC Channel 7 news is a long time resident of that area.

To say there's no nice areas left in Gary is just ignorant.

Or at the very least, any home that just cannot be saved should be replaced with a home better or the same (in material) than the original. That vinyl box is a travesty.

Again, he wants a safe area & is not from NW Indiana. I wouldn't recommend Miller to him, and I have family from the Beach area. That's my opinion, you have your own.

Harry Porterfield may live there, but most of the TV people are in Munster.

Regardless of safety, I don't think a 21-year-old intern looking for a place for $500/month is going to be especially content living in Miller, even assuming he could find a place for that price in the summer. It doesn't really seem to have a lively scene for people in their twenties.

Do you live in Gary?

I do.

And it's not an opinion if I can get in my car, drive about 8 minutes and see rich people from Chicago out at Lake Michigan having a good ol' time without being accosted.

Do you honestly think that all of those people up in the hills of Miller are getting accosted?

When's the last time you went to the Beach Cafe?

Wells Street beach?

Do you seriously think those places would be full of upper class people if it was dangerous?

Where in Northwest Indiana is there a "lively scene"

We just go to Chicago, which is 20 minutes away when we want to go out. That's what me and everybody I've ever met from this area pretty much does, especially when we were in our early 20s.

I was born & raised in Gary, and I am familiar with the entire city.
