Was needing to put my son thru 2nd & 3rd yr High School as a Transfer Student and would want a High School with a higher Asian population to help him adjust in NW Indiana.
I saw Munster with the largest Asian Population but rentals are mostly limited to homes and fairly high.

So next choice was Dyer, Schereville or Crown Point.
Can anyone recommend apartments, duplexes or even a home to rent in these areas?
We are an older couple and need peace & quite and safety as a priority in are renting decision.

We were looking at Fountain View Apts located in Crown Point but it falls under the Merrillville school district, and we do not want our son to go to that school.
Any Help Appreciated!

ranosb, you've been around here long enough to know that people will help you, IF they have an answer.

There is not a large Asian population anywhere in NW IN. There is a larger population in Dyer and Schererville than Crown Point. See this site: Lake County QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau

All have a larger Asian population than Munster. (unless it's too early in the morning for my brain to function).

It is true that there really is not a large Asian population in NWI...however, Munster DOES have the largest Asian population out of any individual municipality in NWI...

2010 Census:

Munster: 5.8 % (1368.974)
Dyer: 2.9% (475.31)
Schererville: 2.8% (818.804)
Saint John: 1.3% (193.05)
Crown Point: 1.8% (491.706)

The Asian populations of Dyer, Scherervile, Saint John, and CP combined are 1978.87 and their total population is 87,800...this means their Asian population is about 2.3% of their total...Munster's alone is 1368.974 which is 5.8%.

Not only do more Asian actually reside in Munster, but you will also notice a much more visible Asian population in Munster during the day Most of the Asians in NWI are Indians, Koreans, and Filipino.

Try the Rockwell neighborhood in Dyer (north of Rt. 30 and East of Calumet Avenue)...they have newer duplexes, townhomes, and ranch homes that are pretty affordable and its a safe area. They are not built as rentals but there are usually some rental opportunities every now and then. The deeper into the neighborhood, the quieter as it would be further from the retail area. However, the neighborhood is otherwise quiet.

A duplex or townhome would be nice, mostly looks like nice single family homes in Rockwell from the maps

The Rockwell subdvision is not mostly single-family homes. It is mostly single-story duplexes south of Flagstone Dr and west of Great Lakes Dr and 2-story townhomes north of Flagstone Dr. East of Great lakes Dr and south of Flagstone Dr are the single-story small ranchhomes of Rockwell.

Further east (where Flagstone Sr intersects Deer Creek Dr) is the beginning of the Hearthstone subdivision.

These developments are all built by Olthof Homes. Here is a link to the subdivision map:

Talked with Olthof Homes in Rockwell Subdivision, said they only are in the business of selling newly built homes...

Yes they are, but there may be individual owners of the homes/duplexes/condos that are renting.
