So it has been about 4 months since this development should have broken ground...but on the Weiss website, I see no "coming soon" or any renderings of the development...does anyone have any pictures or maps? Or any updates about this development in general? The one I attached is the only one I could find online...

Thanks for the update! I don't get a chance to get to that area to often, but every time I go, it is always changing! There seems to be a huge push by the city for upscale multi-family development in the downtown core, but this particular project on the fringe of the city is interesting..especially as it is outside of the Valpo school district boundary.

In ten years the population will probably be 50,000 people. The cities growing, there lots of neighborhoods with open lots for new homes, the downtown is getting ice skating, and stores are moving in downtown and around the movie theater. But many people think Merrillville is declining and it's spreading to valpo, portage, and crown point. Valpo will still grow a lot because it's one of Chicago's nicer suburbs.

Exclamation The Lakes of Valparaiso Update

I did not find any updates regarding this project on the Weiss Entities website...however, I did find the Facebook page for the complex. If the actual project will look anything like the renderings on the Facebook page, then that is great!

I hope Valpo continues to grow, and I think that it will get a more diverse, but most of the city is made up of White People. But, one reason why I like Valpo is because it's a place with positive and happy people. I really like the area, but it's going to be Interesting to see its future, but overall the city has a bright future to come.

Exclamation The Lakes of Valparaiso - Website

This development has had a website with rental information for quite some time now: The Lakes of Valparaiso.

I think it is safe to say (for now) that based upon the way this development will look as well as the current pricing, it will be a nice development for years to come. I know there is the concern about this going downhill like the Mansards did; however--and I could be wrong because I was not alive when the Mansards was first built--but this looks like it would be much nicer and more expensive (respective to each time period) than the Mansards was when it first debuted. I would bet that the rents in this development are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the mortgages most folks pay in this district for a larger space as well.

I think what will be interesting is the impact on the school district as this is zoned to East Porter/Washington Township Schools. Thoughts?

Sort of interesting that it's zoned to Washington Twp. 10 years ago when I lived in NWI, Wash. Twp wasn't considered as good a district as Center Twp (Valpo) but I haven't researched into whether that's changed. Good to hear it's more high-end, they look nice. One thing about Valpo is that unlike the rest of NWI, it is a college town with a growing university and I think to some extent rentals do cater to people who may only be in town a few years or so.

'Big' announcement on Valpo's transit district could come this summer

I wonder what this development is since it is so hyped up! Anyone have any insight? I was imagining maybe it has something to do with the land where the old parking structure is on Lincolnway.

They're most likely talking about the transit center that they've been planning for a couple of years.

(The parking garage is owned by the university and has nothing to do with it.)
