Hi everyone,

We are moving to Valpo soon from the west coast so am coming to you for recommendations on good veterinarians in the area to take care of my dog. He's healthy but a bit timid. I'm looking for someone who respects the whole dog and who will help me give the pooch the best life possible.

Who do you recommend and conversely, is there anyone who you would avoid?

Thank you for all your help.

P.S. He is an indoor dog so I walk him several times a day and will continue to do so in Valpo since we do not have a back yard fence. In my city we have a huge problem with coyotes going after dogs and their owners - even when the dogs are properly leashed and controlled by their humans. Do I need to worry about any critters like this when out walking (alone or with pooch) in Valpo? We will be living in the Aberdeen Subd. if that makes any difference.

Thanks again!

We've taken all our animals in Valparaiso Animal Hospital on Calumet for the last decade ... the old doc sold his practice to a young woman vet but we stayed.

I doubt you'll have a problem w/ other dogs off leash in Aberdeen. Highly doubt it.

There's a dog park right down Division from you - Canine Country Club. Good place to let the pup run. There's also Coco's Cabana (an indoor park) also in Valpo that I've heard good things about.

Groomer - if you need one! - I ADORE Smoochie Pooch. They used to be a strictly mobile service - they come to use and your dog goes out to their van. But they since opened a brick & mortar in town, though they continue to do their mobile biz as well.

Aberdeen is a great neighborhood ... good choice.

I still have friends in Aberdeen ... you may want to check the covenants for off leash pet restrictions. There may be restrictions because of the golf course.

My dog will never be off-leash. But thanks for carefully reading my inquiry.

Thank you, Chuckity - I will certainly check out the dog park and indoor park. We are looking forward to the move. Everyone we've met has been so very friendly and genuine!
