Traffic on these two routes is ridiculous. I support a plan of 3 laning, (3 lanes each way with center turn lane) 30 from Sauk Trail merge to the underpass by Walmart. I would also like to see the same for 41 from just south of 30 to 45th or Ridge. Frontage Roads also wouldn't hurt . Anyone else agree?

they probably aren't allowed to within a certain amount of miles within the radius of the toll road up north.

They missed a huge opportunity to make 41 wider when they rebuilt it through Highland. Instead of sidewalks that nobody uses, they could have been the third lane.

The lease agreement includes a non-compete clause whereby no 20 mile stretch of road within 10 miles of the Toll Road may be upgraded to a 4-lane divided highway for at least 55 years.

I also hate these roads. Though I like highland and Munster areas, traffic sucks here. Though still not as bad as orland park traffic. We are moving to crown point, though I've noticed only 2 lane streets mostly. Hopefully traffic won't build too much out there.

I wish they could widen them, but domergurl is probably right. One thing that would help is changing the traffic lights. When I first moved to the area, I was struck by how overprotective they are. Almost every intersection is set up so that you can turn left on the arrow only, with no ability to turn later, yielding to traffic on green. It may cut down slightly on accidents, so I guess I'll live with that one although it's odd to me. Other areas seem to get along without this restriction. What seems unexplainable is the number of intersections in which traffic turning left from opposite directions isn't allowed to go at the same time. For example, west-facing traffic may get to turn left before the light turns green, while east-facing traffic gets its turning arrow after the green light. This makes every light longer, and I can't for the life of me see how it prevents accidents.
