I'd go with Granger simply because that entire area has much more to do. More shopping, more parks, less crime, not far from University Park Mall and Grape road shopping and eateries. Elkhart, despite what anyone tells you, is a dump. Lived there for years.

There is not much in the way of rentals in Granger. Most people buy and do not rent. There are very few owners to rent their houses to other people. On the other hand if you're looking at apartments there is a good range of things to select from. You should check this link out for rental info. There is a new apartment complex in Granger.
