I need information on the neighborhood around Bertram Ave. (south of the Boreman/near Cabelas)!

I have a relative who lives there. She moved there after her divorce about 15 years ago (from Munster). It's not where she wanted to move, but where she could afford to live. She likes her neighbors. There are some rentals out there where the people don't take care of their house like they should, but those houses are not close to her. She subs for the schools and says the kids are surprisingly well behaved until they get to the high school. But Hammond schools are what they are. Her house has never been broken into, nor any of her immediate neighbors. She is proactive, though, and makes sure everything is locked up. IMO, for the price point, it's not that bad of a neighborhood. I would try to meet the adjoining neighbors of the house that you're looking at. That would make all the difference. Without really knowing what questions you have, I hope that helps.
