Racist comments are made from people who have had a poor upbringing.

Blossom, LaPorte is 40 miles away from Merrivllle. Maybe you meant Valpo is just down the road?

I grew up near there and had cousins who live in or still near. Like every where else it is what you make of it. Great antiquiing stores. Great produce and you are near water. Within an hour of Chicago and all that has to offer and do not forget that Michigan is so close that you must find the orchards and the shoreline that is so wonderful and fun!

My sister says to tell you about the Island on Pine Lake in LaPorte. Our grandparents had a house there and it is one of the best places around. (I have a few great pictures of us there.) I learned the water there and we had such great times growing up. Just don't forget to experiment around the area. Yes there are redmecks and jerks, but aren't there everywhere? There are also really wonderful amazing people. I love it.

Anyone who wants to move to LaPorte should reconsider. I just saw this in the Chicago Tribune.

What a dangerous place to live!

Racism is idiotism. Blow them down, there is that anywhere. LaPorte is what you make of it. Kids will find out about all the crap anywhere. LaPorte isn't a bad place. I could and would move back there. I dearly like north west Indiana as much as southwest Michigan. It was a great place to grow up!

La Porte is the white trash capital of Indiana. Worst place I've ever been to. Nothing to do.

I don't know about its status as 'the white trash capital of Indiana,' but I'd agree that it would be a boring place to live. I wouldn't want to live there.

Why is that? Have you ever lived in LaPorte?
