My family is moving to LaPorte in May, job related, and I know nothing about Indiana period! I hear it is a nice little town- any information or insight?

One of my children lives there, and likes it. When I've visited there, it seems to be a nice area.

It's the County seat of LaPorte county, its fairly close to both Michigan City and South Bend.

You might try a search on the topics because there was a long discussion awhile back on Laporte.

Its a nice town, I've been there quite a few times. Just like any town, you'll have your uppity area, then the questionable area. But by doing some googling, you should get a better idea of LaPorte. Good luck!

I've lived in LaPorte for the last 20 years and it just gets worse every year. No employment opportunities to speak of, <racist comment removed>, drug dealers, bars, etc. It's become a large cesspool since I first moved here.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's not right. LaPorte a cesspool? I'm not overly familiar with the area, but I've visited my cousin twice and didn't see anything close to what this person is describing.

I was speaking more to the racist remark. I honestly don't know what LaPorte is like, but comments like that are unnecessary and infractible.
