Gary's Population is actually above 100,000 people, if You add the college, miller beach, and Atena it would be around 107,000 people *_*

Miller and Aetna are Gary neighborhoods and thus, included in the Gary census counts. The "college" (IUN and Ivy Tech) do not have on-campus residents, and even then, it wouldn't put it over 100,000 at all. Sorry.

Maybe I'm not understanding the joke here. You mean the city that is sitting on a geographical gold mine that is not being exploited? Or the one that is rotten from the inside, both politically, spiritually, and physically? It's a wasteland that has been encouraged by generations at the government teat.

It is really so very, very sad. The steel mills went down due to the fact that American made cars were horrible. Now don't jump on me too hard, I do have a brother who works for GM in Michigan! But I purchased a 1976 Camaro and by 1977 it was already rusting out!

Yes there was a lot of "white flight" from the city but the steel mills downsizing really caused more effect on the city's growth decline. With the political corruption and the flight of other businesses from Gary, Goldblatt's Department Store and The Gary Post Tribune to name just 2, things never turned back around.

I fondly remember the times I spent at The Village and remember my younger brother getting lost from the Montgomery Ward Store and found at the toy store 2 doors down when he was only a toddler. I loved going to Kresge for an afternoon milkshake while out shopping.
