Post this in the NW Indiana thread. I dont give a crap about Gary anyway. I am sure nobody else really does either.

Gary "aint" the only city that has errors on its web site.

Big deal.

People like to mock place like Gary, East St. Louis, etc but ultimately, the US should be ashamed that it, as one of the richest nations in the world, has allowed such endemic decay and poverty to exist year after year without addressing it in any meaningful way.

Thank you ...

As much as I want to laugh, I applaud that someone has taken the time to do such a project, it's a start right?

The US didnt "allow" this to happen! The citizens of Gary allowed this to happen!

There must be a glitch in the matrix.

I swear I saw this a couple of days ago and commented that this was something akin to the internet version of talking behind someone's back. Where the heck did my post go?

Whatever I guess ... but this comment irritates the heck outta me:

Why is it always the government's fault? A little personal responsibility can go a long way.

Ah yes, it is always the fault of those damn poor people, how dare they not have money, how dare they be unemployed after their job was shipped to Mexico due to NAFTA leaving them with no healthcare or pension while the CEO runs off with a seven figure bonus, what on earth are those miscreants thinking, it is all their fault I tell you.

Yeah, it is their fault. It's not like Gary, Indiana is a far flung podunk town in the middle of nowhere ... you could work in Chicago quite easily and have a somewhat easy commute with the South Shore. Or you could get a job in the gambling industry.

Pull yourself up by your frickin' bootstraps and get a job.

Contributing to your community in a positive way doesn't cost a thing - only your time and attitude.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing people say that it's society's fault, or the government's fault ... give me a break. You want a better community? You can't wait for someone else to make it happen - take the initiative and do it yourself.
