This is great..

Even though these funds do not impact the trail I use it is amazing to be able to bike to Hobart from my house. A gentlemen late last year was on a bike and asked me what town he was in! I live a block away from from the Prairie Duneland trail and use it several times a week - would like to see these connected and would like to see Chesterton connect the termination point in town to the Dunes. There are mountain bike trails off the trail, bridges, etc. - absolutely wonderful.

This is what I’m excited about:

The Calumet Trail is such an amazing trail but it’s been so neglected it’s in super bad shape. I hope they really do a good job restoring it.

Would it be possible to actually get to the beach from these trails? btw, for those without subscription, just open the links in incognito mode.

The Calumet Trail does run along the coastline. You could actually bring your bike from Millenium Station and take the South Shore to Dune Park and it’s literally 100 yards away. Not sure about the other stations. The problem is that it just hasn’t been maintained very well and there are so many puddles and potholes, so it’s difficult to use.
