Anyone know anything about the Lakeside subdivision? We have a family member who is going to be selling their home there. Its about 1200 sq feet, 4 bedroom, 1.75 bath. Wants $165K - $170K. It needs updating. I would like to buy a place that needs some updating but I'm wondering how much can we do without pricing out of the market. I believe I had heard before that the Indiana RE market is fairly stable. No major fluctuations. So if we were to buy this place how much work can we put in without overdoing it if we planned to live there for 3-5 years? The kitchen is old and I know that can get pricey. It needs painting on the outside. We would also probably pull out the carpeting and install hard wood. So if we spent about $20,000 in cosmetics, do you think we would get that back when we sold? Also how is the Lakeside area in general? We will probably go see the house on Thursday of this week and won't have much time to make up our minds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
