There is an age / disability exemption. The taxes have been changed 3 times in the last 15 years.
Once was on the price u paid for ur home. Next for the current market value - Now I have no clue what it's based on. It still is much cheaper than Illinois or Michigan.

You get what you pay for - and this area of Michigan City, isn't worth much.
It's a prison town.
a lot of unemployed alcoholic's & druggies.
