Well, S2C, I think everyone has been trying to help you understand that while the midwest lacks the mountains that you are used to, Indiana still offers much to enjoy. This state is really a make your own bliss kind of place ... you can be as happy or as miserable as you choose to be.

It's been a very Seattle-like summer here, saw temps over 100 in Seattle ...

Hiking is not simply limited to mountain areas. It how YOU hike but it's not a required element of hiking.

Oh, you'll be happy to hear that Munster has a Starbucks. I'm sure that will make you feel a little bit better.
Don't want to be a Debbie Downer, here, but we lived in the Pacific Northwest for a while and I don't miss much about it except all of the wonderful the coffee shops and stands that aren't Starbucks.
