Anyone have any suggestions for where to get homeowners insurance? We currently have state farm and it suddenly went up by $300 even though we have no claims.

Thank you.

Call an Independent Agent (not a captive agent like State Farm or Allstate), and ask them to give you a quote. If you combine your car & homeowner's insurance, you can get a fairly good discount.

Yes, if you call an independent agent you will usually get cheaper insurance. I would suggest to shop around every two years. You do not have to switch, but it doesn't hurt to shop. Your agent gets a commission on the amount that you pay. And if you are with State Farm or American Family agents they cannot shop around and get you better rates like an independent agent can.
