If you're black and like to be a dumb thug you'll find plenty of "brothers" to hang out with on the corner pretty much anywhere in the city. If you're white and like trailers you'll find Black Oak to be the place to be. I grew up by Calumet High and if someone had a gun to my head and told me to pick a place to live in Gary, I'd walk down Main St. east of Colfax and pick the first Gary address I ran into.

Id say the whiter parts of Gary would be Calumet township by calumet highschool and south of ridgeroad ( tends to have a slight rural feel to it despite being in middle of urban area) Black oak too, but its very low interms of income, socioeconomics, and land level( flooding in some areas). I haven't been to Miller lately but id say it has a sizeable white populous across the socioeconomic levels.
