Hello all. My Husband and I are having some friends up to visit this weekend. We are planning on dinner and maybe some drinks afterwards. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on any good, mellow bars, maybe offering a live band? We are not in to dance clubs or anything like that. Maybe somwhere in Valpo? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

If you are willing to drive to Portage I recommend The Paragon Bar and Grill. Laid back atmosphere, ice cold beer and inexpensive eats. Have fun!

I always liked Pass Times in Valpo. It’s usually pretty mellow, they have an extensive beer offering, and the food is good too. It’s more of a mellow pub type atmosphere. There's a decent review at: http://www.northwestindiana.com/rr_passtimes.htm.

When I lived in Valpo, Pass Times and Billy Jacks were my favorite. They often have live bands and are non smoking. Good beer selection as well and relaxed vibe.

I heartily agree! PassTimes is a nice, reasonably-priced place for a laid-back evening of drinks, decent food and (sometimes) life music. It's on Lincolnway, just a couple blocks west of the courthouse, inside the Napoleon Centre building. Enjoy!
