I have recently moved here and currently living in Richton Park, IL. I am planning to move to schererville, IN.

Which hospitals have Child birth facility in South Chicago & Northwest Indiana.

I am aware of the South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, IL and St. James in Chicago Heights, IL. Are there any other hospitals in this area (In Indiana) that have Childbirth facilities.

Just google hospitals Lake County Indiana. With the exception of Pinnacle Hospital (I've never heard of it btw) all of them offer birth services. Perhaps you are looking for a particular service. A review of the websites would help with that. Many years ago I was born at St. Margaret's as were all of my siblings.

From Schererville, your best bets would be St. Margaret's in Dyer or Southlake Methodist in Merrillville.

St. Anthony’s in Crown Point is really nice if you expect an uncomplicated birth. They have suites with jacuzzi tubs, nicer decor, wood floors, and the such. Family is welcome to stay overnight. Also, I found their birthing/new parent type classes to be humorous and informative. However, they don't have any intensive care services for newborns. Also, I was told they may not be able to handle other major complications. Community Hospital in Munster is probably the most well known for top notch medical care, especially if complications occur. However, they have some archaic rules such as husbands can't stay overnight and you usually have to share a room.

It's funny that you bring this up - I was just driving Rt. 30 west through Schererville this morning (pre-snow!) and saw a ginormous billboard advertising Community's birthing center - and they specifically mention private rooms.

Maybe they re-did it?

You are correct. The rooms in the Post Partum area are all private now UNLESS there is a shortage of available rooms and only then will they "double-up", but this is usually unlikely. Also they re-did the 5th and 6th floors of the west pavilion and they are all private rooms.

Munster Community is the best in the area hands down. Although, if proximity to Schererville is the highest priority, St. Margaret's in Dyer (on Rt. 30 near the Illinois border) is probably what you're looking for.
