After spending more than 15 years in Hawaii myself and my wife have decided to move to mainland. I wanted to see if you can provide some of the good moving companies in Honolulu which can move stuff from Hawaii to Mainland US (Mid-west) and deliver it at our doorstep. We do not plan to take our old car or furniture - just basic items such as cloths, some books, couple of computers etc. It will be our big move for the first time so any helpfull tips would be appreciated.
Will appreciate if you can share your experience in having these items shipped from Hawaii to Mainland.
As IslandGirlGoingHome mentioned in a different post about shipping, fly via Alaska Air and take as much luggage as they allow. Then ship the remaining boxes via U.S. Parcel Post. Ship the books via U.S. Media Rate, that's even cheaper than Parcel Post.
After fifteen years, why did you choose to move to the mainland? Especially the MidWest?
I second what hotzcatz suggests: USPS is the way to go for the most cost effective move. Just remember it will take 3 - 6 weeks for your boxes to arrive Parcel Post/Media Rate even if the USPS says something like 11 days
