Thank you so much, this is exactly what I hoped for. Greatly appreciated cheers.

I do hope that more contributors like the above budget be shared, regardless of which side of the income/living standard spectrum... This would really give a general view of how costs of living in Hawaii would be.

Much Alohaz n Jah Bless.

ps Pray for Japan.

Regards from Tokyo.

Cost of Living comparison calculator

This helps, at least for people living in US.

So what? unless the person is moving from those places, it means squat! If they live in Lawrence Kansas and moving to Honolulu, what does the cost of living in NYC versus Honolulu mean? As an example if a person is a store clerk in nyc and live in Bed-Sty with 6 other people and walk to work and owns no car, what do you think that person's cost compared to Honolulu would be? It would be nowhere close to the numbers, so its all meaningless unless comparing apples to apples.

You have to also look at what are causing the price increase. If only a handful of items cause NYC to be more expensive and those are not things the person will be duplicating, it don't matter if NYC is 1,000 times more expensive. The only thing that matters id what the person spends now to what they will spend on Hawaii. Does it really matter what the cost of snow tires are in NYC compared to Hawaii if you wont be buying snow tires in HI?

According to the relo calculator at Bankrate. com, Honolulu is nearly 42 percent higher c.o.l. than Chicago. It would take over $70K a year in Honolulu to live as well as $50K in Chicago.

Having lived in downtown Chicago, I can assure you that although Chicago is expensive, it does not compare to Honolulu. I would much rather have $50k in Chicago than $70k in Honolulu.

Honolulu is consistently ranked as the 2nd most expensive city in the US, right behind New York City. and ranked 25th in the world as far as most expensive.

Thank you once again to those who are commenting, however what i inquired for is about Hawaii's costs of living; and not direct comparison with cities in the mainland or overseas. ↑ is the type of response that i hope to receive.
Cheers... this is not a debate. All answers are welcomed, especially the above format and information stated is very helpful.
