I will be working July/August 2011 in Honolulu.
Very low salary, must stretch tiny budget.
Wonder best way to get around - $40/mo bus ticket checked.
What about any long term rent-a-wreck car company. Just drivable, never mind year, make and model. Can't afford the lowest quote $900+ (54 days).
Will even "sublease" a car, just like doing with housing for short duration while in training. Thanks.

Why don't you lease/rent a moped? You can get a nice one for about $900 used for sale through the paper / craigslist (and just simply sell it again once you're done). And for July - August, you are not exactly hitting the raining season, so that wouldn't be much of a factor.

Unless you plan grocery shopping every day, a moped is cheap, you are not required to have any endorsements (just a normal drivers license) and can get you around fairly easily (and saves you money on parking, insurance and gas).

if you need to have a car, just go to enterpise and rent a $12 car a day for those days you need to have a trunk.
