Any idea what kind of pay I could expect in such a position? Also, do you think my wife will have trouble finding work? Of course she is a native Japanese speaker and her English is very natural but a but bumpy in grammar from time to time.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Just asked my friend what she makes. 48K per year. Note it took her 1 year and a half to get that position with her Masters degree. She also had a LOT of experience in HR . She is single.
You could potentially get a similar position and start making 48K, but you also mention you do not have much experience.
I have lived in Honolulu close to 2 years, 48K is not enough to support a family of 4. Hawaii is a really expensive place to live. My husband and I bring home close to 70K together. We don't have children and we barely get by. Not to discourage you, people on this forum are just trying to help you telling you the truth. I know you are compromising for your wife and kids but you also want to provide the best for them. I hope you do some more research and choose the best for your family. Mahalo, Cara.

Yeah, after extensive research I have come to the conclusion that I just can't put my kids through Hawaii public schools. My own determination and stubbornness were very close to blinding me from the hard truth: Hawaii isn't a place for young, poor parents. I am from an area in Ohio that has three school districts in the Washington Posts Top 500. That should be enough to convince the wife to compromise with me. I will leave the part about 150 sunless days per year and blistering cold winters out

To all, thanks for everything, I will keep Hawaii as vacation spot, be a tourist that you all can complain about, and keep Hawaii as a dream or retirement spot.

We live and we learn.

I really appreciate all the advice
