Sometimes along the windward coast there, the folks are conservative and a one piece might be more acceptable than a bikini. Just watch and see what other folks are wearing. Also, it's not really called the "North East Coast" since nobody really tracks the compass directions.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't own any really skimpy ones, because I'm kinda top heavy and I don't want any wardrobe malfunctions

Yeah, I struggled with what to call that section of the island, because whenever I google windward it usually comes back with info about the area around Kailua, also I don't think it really qualifies as the north shore and I think I've heard of the area referred to country, or up country, but I wasn't sure.

We call this area the Laie-Kahuku area the North Shore since Kahuku at the most northern point of Oahu. Some people also refer to it as "up country".

The only time I've seen people make a fuss about swim wear is when people wear it walking on the streets in Laie or into the grocery stores in Laie & Hauula.
