I think this was approved a year ago - but they finally had the groundbreaking today for the new H-1 Westbound Zipper. The news said to expect up to 16 months of construction making for an even more painful commute until the project is completed. (Zipper lanes are for 3 or more passengers).
One problem will be that H-1 Eastbound will be reduced from 5 to 3 lanes in the afternoon (there's no shoulder next to the fast lane, so it will eat up one-and-a-half lanes). I've had a reverse commute the last four years, and it's been pretty good 95% of the time. We'll have the same slowdowns we get westbound at the H-1 - H-2 split in the morning. Shikatta ga nai ...
