I think many people take Hawaii for granted, living here. I think that it is tough to make a living and there are many obstacles to overcome living here. But when you can stop and take a moment to realize how wonderful this place is. The tiny birds in the tropical bushes and fruit trees like the Garden of Eden. I think there is no other place I want to live. I dont take drugs and I dont smoke and I dont drink hard liquor. I think my perceptions are sensitive and acute. I am so blessed to be here. All one has to do is spend some time in Fargo, N Dakota for some time and WOWEE does home sickness kick in.

Thank you for your post!!! We too LOOOOOOVE it here so much. I can't believe how many negative posts I read before we arrived about how we would hate it here, we wouldn't make any friends, the rain would drive us nuts, the frogs would drive us nuttier, and we wouldn't be able to afford it.

Well, we LOVE it here because it is so crazy-beautiful (my favorite new term for something so beautiful that I can't think of a better word for it) and the local foods and produce constantly delight us, we made a lot of friends right from the get go, the rain just doesn't seem to be a problem for us, the frogs make a wonderful white noise that makes us feel like we live in a jungle, and it actually is not expensive to live here if you are careful lifestyle-wise. There are SO many wonderful things to do here, each day, each evening we have too many things to decide from!

Methinks the naysayers just don't want Hawai'i to be more crowded.

I just wanted to throw a line out there and to see if anyone else felt like I do. Yessss Crazy Beautiful. I have spent some time in N Dakota in the Winter and St Louis just processing into the the MEPS Station in this dreary hotel in St Louis that the bleakness and blackness will forever be ingrained in my memory. Now Hawaiian memories become a paradise of freshness. Sure, loneliness still, a human emotion is bereft in earthly paradise but so much more to make up for life on earth ! I have come to realize that super nutrition is a tremendous variable to a good attitude and long lasting happiness. And strangely enough, I dont do any drugs - No not of any sort. Coao.

Your on-going description of life in Hawaii is undoubtedly the most positive one I've read. It is the polar opposite of the saga by Julia Huff, which was also an interesting read. Most stories, like Wink's, fall somewhere in the middle. All of them have been valuable in planning out a future in Hawaii. I hope my own story will be as positive as yours.

The beach and the birds are my favorites. There are so many cultural influences in the food here, really makes it interesting.

Is it the same Julia Huff? Inquiring minds want to know.

Google Julia Huff and many are out there in the wide, wide world.
