I'll start
It has been a while since I lived on Oahu. But, I used to go out to Hawaii Kai and make a right at a school I believe. Then I'd go up into an upscale neighborhood and There was a trail in between two houses that looked private but it's not. You walk down about 50-100 yards and you come out on some pretty awesome cliffs. If you look West Northwest you can watch a pretty stellar sunset tucking just by diamond head. Miss that place.

That was China Walls. Great place for a sunset.

Another good one is Puu Ualakaa State Wayside up at the top of Round Top Drive.

When it comes to spots in that area, STAY OUT OF THE WATER, even if you see locals having fun jumping off the cliffs. The water is treacherous, and many drownings happen there.

You ever listen to 2182KHZ or CH16 (156.8MHZ) VHF any time? You would be surprised how many people drown even in relatively calm waters all over the U.S. I imagine Hawaii has even more occurrences.

Well, it is definitely worth noting, as CyberCity mentioned, that China Walls is definitely not a place to swim, and the combination of the rock cliff and currents are sketchy at that spot. People who are not used to the sheer power and complexity of the ocean are often surprised here when things that they were warned about come true.

This time of year, Waikiki is also nice place to watch the sunset.

The tip of Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach park is a pretty nice sunset location. Also easily accessible and yet not crowded.

Sun setting over the ocean directly in front of you. Then look to your left and see the colors of the sunset reflecting on Diamond Head and the Waikiki skyline.

Pretty nice.
