Do I have to pay any tax if I ship a USD$400.00 spectacle frame from Brooklyn to Honolulu? (sales)

There is an online shop in Brooklyn that sells a Spectacle frame made of aluminium.

The aluminium spectacle frame cost USD$400.00

I am only buying the aluminium spectacle frame, with out any lens.

I have to buy this spectacle from the Brooklyn online shop and they will ship the spectacle to Honolulu.


Question :

Do I have to pay any tax for this?


If "yes", then where and how do I pay for the tax?

Officially, yes, you would owe the GET (kinda like a sales tax) to Hawaii. They actually have a form for it!

In reality, Nope and don't even worry about it. There are no methods that the state has for enforcement of the law. you will never be caught or asked to pay it. Amazon is currently fighting the state's attempts to make Amazon pay back taxes on Hawaii resident's purchases. It won't happen.
