This place bills itself as the last of the original Tiki bars from old Honolulu. Any reviews? On our third trip to Oahu coming up, would really like to find a place like this!
La Mariana is a cool place to eat and the food is pretty good. Kinda funky location on Sand island and easy to miss at night if you're not familiar with the area. Most nights they have music, so youll want to make reservation for dinner, but lunch is ok to drop in without. Parking is as too be expected, a challenge. Pretty reasonable prices for Honolulu as well.
If you visit yelp, be sure to look at where the poster is from. When you're on vacation and you want every meal to be special, you have to guard against all the locals raving about zippys or the like.
The interior of the Tahitian Lanai moved to Keehi Lagoon. Annette bought most of the interior of the Tahitian Lanai at auction when the Waikikian closed down and installed it at La Maz (La Mariana).
Before that renovation, La Maz was one of the scuzziest bars in the back end of nowhere but you could get there by dinghy, get falling over drunk and then row back home to your boat which would be anchored for free off in the middle of Keehi Lagoon. Woot!
That would have been in the eighties or so, though. They did organize the harbor and clean things up in the late eighties or early nineties. When they got the decor from the Tahitian Lanai and gave ol' La Maz a face lift they even cleaned the place up. It's been a trendy kinda place for awhile now, you'd hardly know it for the dive it had been before. Annette isn't there anymore, either, which is a pity, she was a hoot.

Used to do the same (in the 80's) at The Harbor Reef Restaurant on Catalina. On Oahu all I did was work. Not totally true but my 25' Catalina stayed on the mainland.
