Personally I would rather have the top in beaches than in skylines. Of course I do not go into town if I can help it either.

singapore is one of the best urban areas i've visited. planning is well done. not just buildings and infrastructure. (though it's cool to see their skyline evolve over time. there's always something new.) their economic development is very strong. the city/state is very supportive of businesses and startups. it's an attractive place for an int'l outpost.
honolulu has a long way to go to be at that level. though, i don't think that's what the city or residents aspire to, anyway.
and of course, it goes without saying that oahu has a lot of wonderful things the other places do not.
I've been to 7 out of 20..... add the rest to my bucket list.

I've visited 12 out of 20. Do not know if i will visit the other 8. But who knows. Might win the lottery someday!
I've always like Hong Kong, Sydney, and Singapore, not nesassary in that order, in my travels.
Well, some would say it's a good thing not to be on that list. I prefer Hawaii's natural beauty over masses of man made skyscrapers dominating everything.
As Mikala43 said, I'd rather be on the list of top beaches than the list of top skyscrapers.
But to each his own.
