Just for your information methamphetamine is the cheapest and easy to produce street drug thats why its out of control here in Hawaii. I was wondering what motivated you to post what you did? Personal life experience? Statistics?

How would economics not play a big role in the homeless problem on Oahu today if workers are four times more likely to abuse meth to get by?

Sorry don't know how to post a news story on here yet.

That's not what it said, so you should remove your quotation marks.

You are obviously someone with an agenda as you left out the rest of the short article:

A University of Hawaii psychiatry professor says Hawaii's location is a prime reason why meth use is so high.

"We're directly in transit lanes of areas of highest production in Korea and the Philippines," Dr. William Haning said. "And it tends to make importation into Hawaii very easy. This is not a drug this is readily identified through the usual screening techniques."

How ironic - just drove by King/River Street - big sweep at the park happening now.

How the heck are they going to watch the Olympics when they take the generators/big screen TV's away?

Then perhaps quotations would not be appropriate?

I don't know. Maybe your right? Here is the original quote from the study "Haning says another reason is the island's service economy, in which many users take meth in an effort to work longer, harder and multiple jobs." Im not an english writing teacher so im unaware of what exactly is the rule in this situation. I can appreciate your attempt to keep my integrity intact though. Mahalo for that.

It is really disheartening to see what real solutions to homelessness our political leaders in Honolulu have put into action. Compassionate disruption, anti-homeless laws, sledgehammering shopping carts all real solutions from outside of Hawaii. It is time to look at the causes of homelessness here in Oahu and go with that. Someone really needs to challenge the current mindset and ask "on an island 44 miles long and 30 miles wide and thousands of miles away from another land mass. Could it be a little extreme to execute some of these ideals? Where are the homeless supposed to go? Pushing them from one place to another is not a reasonable solution. Its not like they can hitchhike to another neighboring state.

Its shocking to see just how extreme thinking has become today when you balance that thinking with the reality that we are a small island 44 miles long and 30 miles wide. Gentrification, HART Rail and our population growth are also another few examples of this extreme thinking.

They are building them there own building!!!! Medical facilities on the bottom, government rep offices and apartment upstairs.

It. is. so. sad.

But it is still okay if they want to set up camp somewhere because it is not illegal.

They are every where. I thought they slept in condemned buildings then came out early in the morning to get their daily exercise, but it turns out they sleep on the side walks and cements all night with their blankets. And they breathe in a lot of gas exhaust fumes. Carbon monoxide poisoning. For years too. Really a bad thing too how they live and die.
