I will be traveling to oahu and was wondering what would be best way to get the pre covid check before I arrive otherwise I would have to quarantine for 14 days. All the places I am seeing you have to pay 130 dollars which I do not want to do.

One method I am thinking of is going to walgreens. I heard its drive through, free, and does the PCR test. Then you get the results and download the app and upload. This is my first time. Has anyone done this before?

Some of the providers such as Walgreen's and CVS will do free PCR tests if you state you may have been exposed to Covid - then you use your insurance. Beware, those providers don't guarantee a result by 72 hours.

I did my 8th Covid test in Vegas at Worksite labs - $90, result in 12ish hours.

Free with insurance if you state you believe you've been exposed to Covid - and they won't guarantee results by the time of your flight.

damn. does it matter if its pcr or antigen? hypothetically if you go into quarantine and your results come in while you in hawaii can you get off that 14 day isolation?

There's been a lot of people posting their experiences on the TripAdvisor Hawaii forum. Since that's a travel forum, you may get more first-hand input.

Have you looked at https://www.hawaii-guide.com/hawaii-covid-testing

What about the current rules to fly from Maui to Oahu and back?

Does vaccinated or unvaccinated matter? Is a test still required if I'm vaccinated and have my card?

My hanai grandson is going to Oahu this summer for a medical test and I may accompany him. He is 21 and unvaccinated.

Get him vaccinated before he heads to Oahu, there's more virus over there than the other islands. There's supposed to be something about vaccinated folks flying inter-island without a test requirement, but I don't know the details. He would have to be vaccinated for ten days to two weeks or something before flying, I think?

This whole thing is pretty confusing and keeps changing, but being vaccinated several weeks before the trip should not only make it easier but keep him from getting the virus as well. I'm always surprised when folks are talking about reasons as to why folks should get vaccinated that they don't seem to focus on keeping the person being vaccinated from dying from the virus. If it were me, I'd think that would be the primary motivation why folks should get the shot - so they don't die. Duh!

I have been encouraging him and his 6 brothers and sisters to get vaccinated. They aren't anti-vaxxers but don't see a pressing need since they are in a low-risk age group.

I would not be surprised if the hospital where he will get the test done requires it.

If you are 15 days past second shot and have it uploaded to safe travels you need not test nor quarantine for interisland
