I am a nurse that is considering a travel contract in Honolulu. I am single and I have a daughter that is almost 6. I work 12-13 hour shifts 3-4 days a week. I am wondering if there is quality childcare available. Can anyone in the health profession give me any feedback? I appreciate you time and thoughts.

I'm not a nurse but I can tell you that quality childcare can be expensive and tough to come by. I noticed that a lot of resident families use grandparents for care but that doesn't generally work for transplants. There is a hotline set up by the state to provide referrals. I can't remember what it's called but if you search for keiki afterschool hotline you should find it. You're lucky your child is older tho, I'll tell ya that. Care for kids under 5 is crazy expensive and impossible to find.

Legal- Check out Craigslist. One thing you haven't specified is what your shift hours are. I know nurses have both day and night shifts for the same person, so that will pose an extra challenge for you. I'm hoping you don't work the graveyard (overnight) shift.
