I am accepting a job with the company I work with now for a year contract in Oahu. I know cost of living is EXTREMELY high compared to Tn. Are there any extended stay hotels that would be an option or studio apartments in the area or any other suggestions? My company is leasing a car for me -am checking with some of the dealerships on this. Thanks I know nothing about Hawaii. Researching a lot. Plan to come after July 4th.
What practical things do I need to know?

Lots of scams - including some posts on this forum about other forum members that have been taken or nearly so. Proceed with caution. Deal with a property management company to help.

Hawaii has a law (paraphrasing) that says that any rental property must be managed by someone on island. If the owner lives off-island, they have to use a property management company.

Default thanks for the advice-question on hostels

Actually never heard of this; been researching and found this occurs there a lot? Any advice on these? You rent a room, share a bath and kitchen correct? Wouldn't this be more affordable than an apartment?
