Greetings from New Zealand! I am about to relocate back to Honolulu with my family. I am from New Zealand and my husband is Hawaii born and raised; we lived in Honolulu for 4 years previously.
Anyways, we have a 4 year old son and I have been looking for a map or something that shows what neighbourhoods feed into which public schools..I've seen the DOE one but it isn't specific to which streets etc zone you for which schools. We are looking to rent in either the Kaimuki/Waialae/Manoa/Nuuanu areas.
Any ideas?

And any Kiwis out there?

You are correct! The DOE "maps" could have been drawn by a first grader. There is absolutely zero detail on them to help out anyone.

If anyone finds a better, street-level map of school complex areas, PLEASE post the link!

There are no maps. You have to call one of the following numbers and give them your street address. I suppose if you find places you would like to live, you could use those addresses. I know its a PITA!

808.733.4950 Honolulu Complex
627.7478 Central Oahu Complex
692.8000 Leeward Complex
233.5700 Windward Complex

But obviously, SOMEONE has a map... Why can't they publish these on the state website?

I can't find ANY MAPS for the Big Island, either.

Thank you for asking this question Feebee.
This has been a problem our last few moves! I really want to find a good school and then look for a place to live but it is different everyplace we go. Why is it so hard to find out the catchment areas, not just in Oahu but everywhere? It is looking like we will find houses near the schools we like and then double check to see which school for the individual address? Would it be worth our time to call for each listing we are going to view or are the boundries somewhat logical?
Really appreciate the phone numbers Kaimuki!
Wish everybody would include the school information in the listing when renting or selling a home even if it is a less desirable school!

icstarz, I am in the same position! How will I know if a house I wish to rent is in the school zone I want? There is a real estate company that lists the elementary/middle and high school that a property is zoned for www.marcusrealty.com so maybe we need to call them up and ask them how they got their info???? LOL, hope they're willing to share!!!
