So, I am thinking moving to Oahu. I have a great job in the mainland with good pay. Anybody knows what is the percentage difference for salaries between the mainland and Hawaii?
Honolulu is the second most expensive city in the US to live in, right behind NYC and ranked as the 25th most expensive city in the world in which to live. Honolulu salaries are nowhere near NYC...
Looks like what you want is a cost of living calculator. You can find some online. They will let you input the area you are living in and the area you are moving to.
I have a job in the DC area and have been offered a job in Honolulu at a slightly higher rate of pay. But the cost of living in HI is more than for DC. I think Sperling's Best of has a calculator to compare prices for housing, etc.
got a job if you really want to live in an environment like the Hawaiian Islands then I say go for it. But who am I? Good Luck.
